Frequently asked questions
What telecommunication platforms can Marietta work with for live remote events?
Marietta is equipped to handle Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Facebook Live, Join.Me, Twitch, and more. If you don't see your platform of choice listed here, ask! Marietta is flexible and can find a way to link up to any service you choose.
How do live remote events work?
Live remote events operate across a telecommunication or video streaming service, such as Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Facebook Live, Join.Me, Twitch, and more. Marietta will join you and your guests on the call or stream, then draw you each as you chat. She can either draw quietly to allow an important meeting to occur or she can engage with each guest as the highlight of the event. Guests will get to see her draw in real time, as well as see their final product on the video. How you receive your caricatures depends on the type of caricature you hired Marietta for. For traditional events, Marietta will mail the caricatures to the contract holder or other designated individual on the next business day and provide a tracking number. For digital events, Marietta can either e-mail all of the images to the contract holder or other designated individual, or she can set up a download page for guests. Either would be available within a few hours after the end of the event.
Can I make a copy of a caricature I had drawn at an event?
Absolutely! As long as you're not copying it for commercial purposes (ie to use as a logo or put on business cards), you can make as many copies as you like! In fact, caricatures from events can make great holiday greeting cards, coloring pages for children, and artwork for multiple homes! If you find your local print service store will not copy your caricature without written permission, simply e-mail Marietta at firstname.lastname@example.org and she can e-mail you a signed letter.
Can Marietta draw from photos at the event?
If she doesn't have a line, Marietta doesn't mind drawing from pictures! She would much rather stay busy and ensure you get your money's worth out of her. That being said, she also doesn't want to make guests wait for people who aren't attending, so if there's a lengthy line or it's expected to be very busy, she impliments a no-photo rule to ensure everyone's best experience.
Can Marietta draw caricatures of pets?
Absolutely! In fact, she's worked entire events drawing just pets for pet-oriented stores like Petco and dog parks. She can even draw pets from photos during the event, but only if she doesn't have a line waiting.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Invoicing is provided through Paypal, which can be paid with either a Paypal account or a debit or credit card. Marietta also takes cash, check, money orders, and can accept cards through Square if Paypal is not an option for you. Upon arrival, your final balance is due. That can be paid by card, cash, check, or money order, or you can request an invoice and pay it ahead of time.
How does payment work for live remote events?
A 50% deposit and signed contract secure your event date, with the remainder due 24 hours before the event. The final payment must be made prior to Marietta joining the event.

What if I want to hire Marietta for a commission?
Due to the pandemic, Marietta has had to limit her office hours. She can no longer provide commission services but she still offers events! What is the cancelation policy?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date. That deposit cannot be returned. The remaining 50% will be due upon artist arrival and is waived if the event is canceled for any reason. If your event is rained out, your deposit can be applied to a reschedule within one calendar year based upon Marietta's availability.
Is there an age limit on caricatures?
Absolutely not! Marietta can draw all ages, including babies and adults.
Can I book multiple caricature artists?
Yes! Marietta works with a number of artists nationwide and can likely find a second, third or even fourth artist to add to your event if needed!
How long should I have Marietta draw?
It depends on your event! Marietta draws at a rate of 20 faces per hour in black and white traditional caricatures - the most common service offered. Not everyone at your event will want to be drawn, so aim to have about 70% of your event guests drawn based on your estimated attendance. If you're not sure, you can always ask Marietta what she suggests based on the number of guests in attendance and she will let you know!
How soon do I need to book?
The sooner the better. Events are not secured until a 50% deposit is paid and a contract is signed. Because Marietta works with multiple agencies and clients, her availability can change mere hours after a quote is given. Usually, once quoted, Marietta will check with you if she receives an inquiry for a conflicting event.
What kind of travel fees can I expect?

If the event is further than a drive, all travel requirements must be accomodated. This includes plane tickets, rental cars, and hotels. If you have any questions on these requirements, please ask!
Can I book if my event is only a few days away?

Will Marietta still draw at my live event during the pandemic?
Yes! Given proper safety protocols are in place, Marietta is happy to still draw at your event!
What precautions does Marietta take to ensure the safety of my guests?
Marietta and any caricature artists you hire through Caricatures by Marietta Delene will wear a mask at all times during your event. Artists will maintain a 6' distance from guests to the best of their ability, barring guests approaching the artist themselves. Marietta and any other artist working your event will notify you immediately upon a positive COVID-19 test result within 14 days of your event. Marietta may also bring "Do Not Cross" tape to rope off an area and a 32x24" plexiglass free-standing sneeze guard so guests can remove their masks for their pictures without risking their health.
What does Marietta require of me to ensure her safety?
Guests must be reminded to keep 6' of distance from the artists. Artists must be placed against a wall or a roped-off canopy must be used to ensure guests do not approach the artists closer than 6' from behind to view the process. You must also contact Marietta upon a positive COVID-19 test result from any of your guests within 14 days of the event. Utilization of the aforementioned "Do Not Cross" tape or 32x24" plexiglass free-standing sneeze guard is based on accessibility. To use the tape, she would need attachment points the tape can be tied to. To use the sneezegard, she would need a small table sized 32" or longer.
Will I be required to sign a waiver or safety policy regarding COVID-19?
Yes, Marietta you to sign a COVID-19 Addendum outlining what she will do to keep you and your guests safe, what she needs from you to protect herself from infection, and liabilities regarding COVID-19. In this addendum, you will also be able to add any additional requirements you may have of her to protect your guests provided they do not override other requirements already in the Addendum and additional costs will be covered by you.
Can I ask Marietta to do something more than the above to protect my guests?
Marietta is thrilled with any additional protection measures you want to put in place to ensure everyone's safety. In the COVID-19 Addendum you will be required to sign, you will have the chance to list any additional precautions you'd like Marietta to take. These precautions will be honored as long as they do not override any of the protocols or requirements already outlined by the addendum and you will cover any additional costs your requirements may necessitate. Examples of additional precautions Marietta has been happy to honor in the past include taking her temperature before entering the building, staying behind a plexiglass wall provided by the purchaser, or setting up in a room separate from the event.
